Water Quality – Biotic index
Determination of water quality by biological monitoring.

The sampling of benthic macroinvertebrates is used to determine the grade of water pollution.

The macroinvertebrates are biological indicators of water pollution. Regarding there demand of dissolved oxygen, there are related to a level of tolerance to pollution.

The taxonomic diversity of species, order, is also taken into account.
Methodology:

- Determination of the macroinvertebrates species
- Determination of the species diversity
- Calculation of the Biotic index

The Biotic index is expressed as a numerical value (10 - 0), to define the water quality (clean aquatic ecosystem – very polluted water)
